Tuesday is The Last Day for Floridians to Regisiter for Primary

Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla-- Tuesday  is the deadline for Floridians to register to vote for next month's presidential preference primary election.

Florida is what is known as a "closed-primary state", so only citizens who are affiliated with the democratic or republican parties may cast a ballot.

Leon county supervisor of elections Ion Sancho, says the number of people who have switched from being registered with minor political parties or none at all to one of the two major parties, is the most he has seen in 20 years.

Florida's Presidential Preference Primary will be held on March 15th.

In addition to election day, early voting will be held in the two weeks leading up to the election, and voters are able to cast absentee ballots right now if they choose.
