TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - It's time now to talk all things science, but shh...the "T" is silent! This is Tsaparis Tscience.
First up, there’s a 6-legged robot that moves in a straight line. Nothing fancy, right? Wrong! French programmers say it's the first robot of its kind that can adapt to its surroundings. When one of its legs break, it uses different algorithms to figure out how to still effectively get from one point to the other in under two minutes.
Next up, a crow flies into a bear den at a Budapest zoo. Sounds like a joke that's going to end pretty badly. The bird gets stuck in the water and the bear grabs it by the mouth, doesn't eat it, but rather saves its life! And clearly the bear is hungry because it goes back to eating its veggies. But, even the bird looks shocked that it's still alive.
And finally, here's a hot topic online, what happens when you put an ice cream sandwich out in the summer sun? Well, after an hour it still doesn't melt! So what's going on? Never fear, it's not an unhealthy toxin causing the frozen treat to turn into some sort of crime against nature, but rather one natural ingredient called guar gum. The molecule comes from a bean that stabilizes thawing. And, it's completely safe.
That'll just about do it for this week's Tsaparis Tscience. We'll have more science topics every Wednesday.
