DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A 19-year-old with a loaded gun he says he inherited from his grandfather was stopped by Transportation Safety Administration officers at Daytona Beach International Airport.
The incident happened Wednesday morning as Thomas Suddard tried to bring a .32-caliber Colt pistol through a checkpoint.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports Suddard told authorities he had forgotten the gun was in his bag. It contained nine live rounds.
Volusia County Sheriff's deputies took the gun as evidence and filed a complaint against Suddard for carrying a concealed firearm.
Suddard was scheduled to leave on a 6 a.m. flight, but caught a flight later in the morning. Charges against him are pending.
