LOWNDES Co., GA (WTXL) - Officials in Lowndes County say vehicle speed and alcohol are to blame for a crash that injured three people.

Troopers say the crash happened Tuesday on Skipper Bridge Road.

Georgia State Troopers say Travis Shaffer crossed the center line and hit another car. His pickup truck then flipped over several times before hitting a fence.

Troopers say Shaffer, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.

He was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries to his head and upper body.

The driver and passenger in the other car suffered minor injures, according to law enforcement officers.

Shaffer is now facing several charges including DUI and driving too fast for road conditions.
