MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers said that they are investigating a fatal hit and run that killed a 43-year-old woman in Marion County.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that Alexis Monroe of Summerfield was killed in a hit and run Tuesday morning.
They said that the victim who was walking in the south lane of US- 301 was struck early Tuesday morning by an unknown suspect who continued to drive past.
After being hit by an unknown vehicle the women's body landed in the road, where two other cars traveling the same direction hit the pedestrian. Both drivers stopped at the scene.
Troopers said that Alexis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The first vehicle to hit the victim was possibly grey or silver in color. Charges are pending in this incident.
