GEORGIA (WTXL)-- Georgia State patrol troopers say they are gearing up for the Thanksgiving travel holiday period.
The holiday travel season starts next Wednesday and ends on Sunday the 29th. During this time, officers will be on the look-out for distracted drivers, people driving under the influence, and for speeding and seat belt violations.
Thanksgiving is normally the most traveled holiday period of the year.
AAA estimates nearly 47-million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from next Wednesday through Sunday.
There is good news though, AAA says gas is the cheapest its been since 2008.
Costs are also down for those flying according to the travel company, airline tickets are ten percent lower than last year for many of the top routes.
