Troopers Increase Presence as Cold Front Approaches Florida Panhandle

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - In light of the next few days' forecast of freezing sleet and rain, troopers are reminding Florida drivers to be careful.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that they will have extra troopers out on the roads, monitoring the state of roadways and bridges throughout the Florida Panhandle.

Due to the possibility of sleet or ice, they have offered these safety tips:

1. Drive at or below the speed limit.

2. Increase following distance.

3. Know if you vehicle has antilock brakes.

4. If your vehicle does not have antilock brakes you may need to pump your brakes to keep the brakes from locking up.
