Troopers: Bristol Man Hit by Car in Calhoun County

Posted

CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - A Bristol man has been sent to the hospital after he was hit by a car while trying to pick up tools on the road.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that on Tuesday around 7 p.m., Joshua Summers was standing in the eastbound lane of State Road 20 near SW Matthew Wood Road trying to pick up tools that had fallen out of another car.

Casey Hayes from Blountstown was also driving east on State Road 20 at the same time. Troopers said that due to the darkness and Summers' dark clothes, Hayes didn't see him and hit him.

They said that Summers was thrown onto the hood of the car when he was hit and was ejected onto the road when Hayes slammed on his breaks to stop.

Summers was transported to Bay Medical Center for serious injuries, while Hayes was uninjured.

Troopers said that charges are pending further investigation.
