COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - Troopers said that they were led on a chase through multiple counties before they arrested a man who stole a car from a dealership in Clermont.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, troopers in Columbia County attempted to stop 22-year-old Cody Zeuner, who was traveling on I-75, for reckless driving. Troopers said that the car had previously ran from Suwannee County deputies.
Troopers continued to purse the car into Marion County. They said that during the chase, Zeuner tried to hit the troopers with his car. They said that they kept chasing him all the way into a home in Sumter County.
FHP said that Zeuner tried to steal the car at the house, but was unable to and ran off on foot. FHP, Sumter County and Marion County Sheriff's Office, and K-9s all searched and found him not long after.
An investigation revealed that Zeuner stole the car from a dealership in Clermont. They discovered a stolen purse and wallet in the car as well. They determined that he broke into a car and stole the items from Jacksonville.
Zeuner was treated for a dog bite, then transported to the Sumter County Jail. The charges against him include reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, and others.
