TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A court is examining whether Florida legislators broke the law when drawing up new congressional district maps.
A jointly-filed lawsuit contends that the Legislature violated voter adopted standards with new maps created in 2012.
Florida's 2010 "Fair Districts" amendment prohibits redrawing district maps in a way that could prove advantageous to any incumbent members of a political party.
Attorneys for the Legislature say allegations that the recent maps were changed to favor Republicans are false.
