TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- Tallahassee police have arrested a man in the investigation of a fatal shooting that left one man dead on Magnolia Drive.
The suspect, 26-year-old Quanterius Dennis, is accused of being involved in a fatal shooting that happened on Wednesday, March 20. After responding to a disturbance early that morning at the Motel 6 on Apalachee Parkway, police later found the body of 27-year-old Alfred Vaise in car parked the wrong way on Magnolia Drive.
In a police report, it says the two incidents are linked. Surveillance video from the Motel 6 shows that Vaise got into his car after talking with a woman. Another car pulled up behind Vaise's vehicle, blocking him in. Vaise backed up and hit the other car. Then police say the video shows a suspect holding on or attached to Vaise's vehicle while it is moving. The suspect became detached from the vehicle as Vaise drove away.
Police say that's when Vaise made it to Magnolia Drive, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Dennis became a suspect after investigators found a fingerprint on Vaise's car door that matched him. He was also linked to the other vehicle involved in the incident, which was later found on Mission Road. The owner of the vehicle said that Dennis and other people used her car and brought it back damaged with no explanation.
Dennis faces one count of homicide. Because he is a convicted felon, he also faces the charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
