MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — The trial of a man accused of fatally shooting a baby as he sat in his stroller is scheduled to continue Monday.
DeMarquise Elkins is charged with murder in the March 21 killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick.
Prosecutors have said Antonio was killed in a botched robbery and that ballistics and other evidence implicate Elkins. The baby's mother, Sherry West, was also wounded in the shooting.
The trial began a week ago and Elkins' alleged 15-year-old accomplice testified saying that Elkins was the shooter.
The trial is being held in Marietta because of the publicity the case garnered in the spring.
If convicted, 18-year-old Elkins faces up to life in prison.
