GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say engine failure and liquor may have been to blame for a vehicle fire on I-10 near Midway Wednesday afternoon.
The Florida Highway Patrol says they were called to the scene on I-10 eastbound at mile marker 190 near Midway around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
They say the driver, who has not been identified, was carrying small quantities of liquor to Jacksonville when he noticed he had engine trouble. The driver then pulled over to check his vehicle.
Suddenly, the entire truck went up into flames and burned. Luckily, the driver was uninjured in the incident.
Troopers say the fire was most likely caused by engine failure and was made worse by the liquor. As a result of the fire, the eastbound lane of I-10 was shut down for about an hour.
The road has since reopened.
