MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) - A man was arrested for trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia after being pulled over for a traffic violation.
John Raines, 37, was arrested for trafficking meth and possession of drug paraphernalia by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
On March 9, a deputy observed a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop on Raines car.
The police report states the deputy smelled marijuana as he approached the car. When the deputy asked Raines if there were any illegal drugs inside of the car, Raines said there was a large amount of "dope" inside.
A probable cause search of the car revealed a digital scale with meth residue and a bag containing drug paraphernalia.
Inside the bag were several individual "baggies" of crystal meth that weighed more than 14 grams, which is a first degree felony in the state of Florida.
A small plastic container was also recovered along with a marijuana grinder that both contained marijuana residue.
Raines was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
