TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man is behind bars after he admitted to deputies he was a addict when they caught him with drugs inside his car.

According to court documents, on Friday at 5:14 p.m. Leon County deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Tower and Treecare Way.

The driver was identified as 41-year-old Eric Collins. Deputies say he had eight active warrants under his name for possession and trafficking of a controlled substance.

When speaking with Collins deputies say he admitted to having meth in his vehicle.

After searching the vehicle deputies found :

  • 6.9 grams of meth
  • 9.38 grams of illegal pills
  • A smoking pipe
  • two scales

Deputies say they went back and asked Collins if all the items found in his vehicle belonged to him. Collins admitted they were his and that he was a "drug addict and has been since he was 19-years-old."

According to documents, Collins was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility. He is facing a series of charges including possession of meth and heroin trafficking.
