BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) - A convicted felon was arrested in Bainbridge after a traffic stop led law enforcement to finding methamphetamine and a loaded gun inside his car.
Bradley Powell was arrested by Bainbridge Public Safety on Thursday.
On Thursday at about 2:45 a.m., officers performed a traffic stop on Powell as he was traveling on Calhoun Street near Stones Home Center.
As officers approached the car, they noticed Powell seemed extremely nervous.
When officers asked Powell why he was nervous and if he had anything illegal inside his car, he stated he didn't have possession of anything illegal, but continued to act in a suspicious manner.
Officers then let a police K9 sniff the exterior of the car and the K9 alerted officers to the scent of drugs.
Officers did a search of the inside of the car next, finding a bag containing methamphetamine. They also found a used syringe and a loaded .32 caliber revolver in a holster.
After running Powell's driver's license and tag number, they found out he was a convicted felon.
Based on the evidence, he is being charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of a controlled substance, and tail and tag light requirements.
