TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is warning the community about reports of a recent scam alert involving a data breach at Jason Deli's.
TPD has received numerous reports related to compromised debit/credit cards.
TPD determined that the cards were part of a data breach involving Jason’s Deli.
According to TPD, the fraudsters have used a method called “spoofing” to call the victims from a number that appeared to be legitimate.
During these phone calls, TPD states the scammers claim to be part of the banking institution’s fraud section. TPD says the callers are very convincing, and are trying to get the security number off the back of the real debit/credit cards.
TPD advises if you receive a similar call, do not give anyone your information over the phone. Discontinue the call, and then either call, or go to your banking institution.
TPD informs if you have been contacted, your debit/credit card has been compromised and you need to request a new card from your banking institution.
