TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Authorities are responding to a diesel spill on West Gaines Street.
Tallahassee Police say they assisted fire crews with a large diesel spill on W. Gaines St. between Duval & Stadium Monday afternoon. Travelers were asked to avoid the area.
The Tallahassee Police Department says that the spill originated in the 100 Block of Gaines street and continued to move south, almost reaching Stadium Drive.
While the exact cause of the spill is unknown, TPD says there is no cause for concern as there is no indication that the fuel made it into any local sewage system.
Sand was used to soak up the fuel and traffic enforcement personnel helped to assist during clean up efforts.
