TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Monday, Feb. 10 at approximately 3:20 a.m., the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) was called out to the 1900 block of Portland Avenue for a traffic crash. There, officers discovered a deadly single car crash.
TPD's Traffic Homicide Investigators were called to the scene. According to Officer David Northway, TPD spokesperson, the car was going west on Portland Ave. when it left the roadway, struck a curb, and continued through several yards before hitting the base of a large tree. Investigators say the driver died on scene. That was the only person in the vehicle.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is on-going. TPD is not releasing the name of the driver until they notify the next of kin.
Members of the Leon County Sheriff's Office, EMS and Tallahassee Fire Department also responded to the scene.
