TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is asking residents to take extra precautions locking their homes.
With at least eight shootings in the past month, TPD says homeowners should stay vigilant and always be sure to lock their doors.
TPD's Public Information Officer, Damon Miller, says 'do not trust strangers just because they look like who they say they are.'
"Always do your 9 p.m. routine, a lot of complexes are student complexes so make sure your other roommates are also locking that main door that's inside the residence as well."
