TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) UPDATE: 4:39 P.M. - The officers who shot a suspect after he hit a Tallahassee Police officer with a car have been identified.
Police say they were trying to stop a car near at the intersection of Levy Avenue and Iamonia Street around 10:20 p.m. Thursday night.
The suspect, Deshone Donald, 29, did not stop for officials and instead tried to flee from the area.
Police say with the help of the Leon County Sheriff's Office helicopter they were able to track down the car which was found in a parking spot within a complex on Moon Lane.
When officials got to the scene they say the suspect tried to get away, hitting several cars and an officer. Believing themselves to be in danger, officers opened fire, hitting the suspect.
Both the Donald and the officer, Robert Wyche, were taken to the hospital. The officer is expected to make full recovery.
TPD says Wyche and Andrew Mixon were the officers who fired their weapons during the incident.
Officer Wyche was treated and released from a local hospital for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. As is standard procedure, Wyche and Mixon have been placed on paid administrative leave as the investigation is completed.
Donald suffered non-life threatening injuries. He has been charged with two counts of flee and eluding.
At this time, TPD is continuing to interview witnesses and process evidence.
