TPD officer shoots dog after it charges toward him

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee police officer fired several shots at a dog after it charged towards him. 

At 10:14 a.m. on March 31, the Tallahassee Police Department responded to Idlewild Drive in response to a verbal disturbance.

When an officer approached the scene on foot, a large dog charged towards the officer. 

The officer fired several shots and struck the dog. 

The dog and their owner were transported to a local animal hospital. Due to the injures, the dog had to be euthanized. 

This case has been assigned to TPD’s Internal Affairs Unit.
