TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee Police officer received a prestigious award for his work in the community.

Officer Allan Morris received the MADD Hero Underage Drinking Prevention Award for teaching young people about the dangers of alcohol.

Officer Morris received this award last week during MADD's Statewide Conference in Fort Lauderdale. He competed against officers all over the State of Florida.

"I've always been passionate about prevention and alcohol," said Officer Morris. "I've worked in the traffic unit for years doing traffic homicide investigations and this just gives me that extra get up and go to do the right thing."

Morris says he will continue to work with MADD to learn new ways to send safety messages to the community.
