TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating after an officer was accused of sexually assaulting a victim during a traffic stop.
TPD held a press conference about the allegations Sunday morning:
According to Chief Michael DeLeo, the traffic stop happened near Thomasville Road and Hermitage Drive. They say they received a call about the stop Saturday night and immediately sent out an investigative team out to talk with the victim.
Officer Vincent Crump has been identified as the officer involved in the investigation. He has been with TPD since January 2017 and previously worked with the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
Though no charges have been filed as part of the criminal investigation, Crump has been terminated from the department for "failing to comply with the standards and expectations of the Tallahassee Police Department."
"Based on the evidence so far," DeLeo said, "Officer Crump has betrayed the values of our agency and our public's trust."
TPD is asking anyone with information to contact them at 850-891-4200.
