TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department is looking for people to sign up for R.A.D.
The class called Rape Aggression Defense, is a free course that teaches physical self defense techniques and risk avoidance for women.
The course takes 12 hours to complete and includes a voluntary exercise where the participants can use the tools they learned throughout the class in a simulated attack.
The R.A.D. program is held multiple times throughout the year by TPD. The next two classes are scheduled for May 28th and June 4th.
Ellen Hutsell with the Tallahassee Police Department says, "It's very important to us that we help equip the community how to better protect themselves and there are definitely things you can do to prevent yourself from being a victim or targeted as a victim."
The classes are free and will be held at The Lincoln Neighborhood Center. To sign up for R.A.D. go to https://www.talgov.com/tpd/tpd-rad.aspx
