TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A Tallahassee man is behind bars after police say he assaulted an EMT and urinated in front of an ambulance.
According to court documents, Tallahassee police responded to the area of White Drive and West Pensacola Street on Thursday at 8:58 p.m.
Police say EMS was requesting assistance due to an aggressive patient. The patient, 45-year-old Marcel Thomas was in the processes of being transported to the hospital for hernia pains.
When police arrived on the scene they immediately began speaking with EMS.
EMS told officers that Thomas randomly started yelling that he wanted to get out of the ambulance. He continued yelling and grabbed an EMT's hands and would not let go until they stopped the ambulance.
Once the ambulance stopped, the EMT opened the door and Thomas ran out. Documents say Thomas then pulled down his pants and urinated in front of the ambulance.
Thomas also started yelling for EMS to give him money for a bus pass. He kept yelling for several minutes until they gave him the money and then Thomas left the scene, according to court documents.
After speaking with EMS, officers left the scene and found Thomas walking nearby.
Thomas was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility. He is being charged with felony battery on an officer, firefighter or EMT and indecent exposure in public.
