TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department has released the names of the shooting suspect and victim involved in the shooting near Gretchen Everhart Elementary. 

Darrin Rich, 52, was arrested by TPD on Thursday in connection to the shooting on Dura Circle. 

According to TPD, the shooting took place at 1321 Dura Circle near Gretchen Everhart Elementary. They say it happened on Thursday around 3:40 p.m. 

Arriving officers and emergency personnel provided immediate medical attention to the victim, Harvey Walden, 49, suffering from a gunshot wound. Walden was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. 

He is now in stable condition. 

Christ Petley with Leon County Schools confirmed that the school was placed on lock down for 15 minutes as a precautionary measure due to police activity in the area. The lock down has since been lifted. 

He says that there were around 10 staff members on campus during the lock down but no students. Everyone has since been escorted off campus. 

The Leon County Sheriff's Office assisted and had a K-9 unit on scene. 

Rich is being charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. 

He was taken to the Leon County Detention Facility.
