TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department hosted their 4th annual Pack the Patrol Car Saturday afternoon.
The event helps collect supplies for kids in need for the upcoming school year.
This year's goal: to provide at least 200 students with materials.
It's also a way to build relationships within the community.
"This is a very important thing to make sure our students in the community have what they need, the tools and resources to start the year out great," said Sgt. Anitra Highland. "What is also does is it fosters relationships between law enforcement and the youth in the community and let them know that 'hey we're invested in what you have going on as well.'"
Also involved in this year's Pack the Patrol Car was Florida Highway Patrol, the Leon County Sheriff's Office and Leon County EMS.
TPD says it was a success and they collected more supplies than ever before.
