TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Some children in Tallahassee will get the chance to do some Holiday shopping Thursday and they'll have helpers the whole way.
The Tallahassee Police Department is hosting their Heroes and Helpers event Thursday.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live at TPD Thursday morning.
Eighty children are getting the chance to buy holiday gifts for their families.
That's an increase from previous years.
Through a grant from Target, officers are able to give the kids a gift card and accompany them throughout the store to buy items for loved ones.
Then, after checkout, Target employees even wrap those gifts up.
TPD asks various organizations throughout the city to nominate children eligible for the program.
Sgt. Anitra Highlands says the event can get emotional for the cops
It starts at 6 p.m. at the Target on Apalachee Parkway.
