TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The 34-year-old man who tried to run over two people before dying in a crash at the intersection of North Monroe Street and Tennessee Street has been identified.
The Tallahassee Police Department says Jerrod S. Shamburger, 34, was the driver involved in the crash.
According to police, the crash happened after Shamburger lead police on a chase.
Officers responded to Red Roof Inn about a weapons call Tuesday night. While on scene, Shamburger attempted to run over two pedestrians, and fled the scene.
A chase was initiated and ended after Shamburger crashed at the intersection of North Monroe Street and Tennessee Street.
This is still an active investigation and TPD investigators are continuing to interview known witnesses and process evidence collected from the crash scene.

Tallahassee Police say the suspect tried to run over two people at the Red Roof Inn.
After leaving the scene, police say the suspect got into an accident at the intersection of North Monroe and Tennessee Street.
The man was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. Police have not identified the suspect.
Four major intersections are shut down as they continue to investigate:
- North Monroe & Virginia Street
- Tennessee & Calhoun Street
- North Monroe & Call Street
- Tennessee & Adams Street
TPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene or anyone with information about the accident to please call (850) 891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
