TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Police say a welfare check on a sleeping man inside a parked car led them to discover drugs and a stolen gun.

Tallahassee Police officers discovered Reginald R. Watkins Jr., 29, sleeping in a parked car with the engine running early Saturday morning at 2849 Apalachee Parkway at the Circle K.

When officers contacted Watkins, they saw evidence of illegal drug activity inside the vehicle and developed probable cause to search the vehicle.

In the car, the officers found cocaine, marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids and a stolen 9 mm firearm from a Wakulla County criminal case.

Watkins was transported to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing.

He faces several charges:

  • Grand Theft of a Firearm
