TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Tallahassee Police Department responded to Scenic Drive after receiving reports of animal cruelty on Tuesday, August 15.
Police say the complainant witnessed his neighbor beating his dog. After officers arrived, they received additional information from the complainant. The complainant claims he was awakened by sounds of a dog crying.
The complainant saw and recorded his neighbor punch the dog several times. He also saw the dog thrown into the swimming pool, his neighbor attempt to drown the dog, and him throwing the dog onto the ground violently.
After the officer watched the video, the suspect was identified as Donte Francis.
The officer responded to the target address, but no answered the the door so the officer went to the backyard to check to see if the dog was still alive.
As officers were on scene, Francis returned to the residence and police explained the nature of the call. Francis stated he hit the dog.
Francis was arrested and the dog was taken to a shelter.
