TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee city commission have approved an ordinance to ban towing at certain hours at alcohol-licensed establishments.

WTXL reported about this proposal last month. It would prohibit towing between 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. at these establishments.

The purpose, commissioners say, is to discourage people from driving under the influence in fear that their cars will get towed.

Tallahassee City Commissioners are also tackling several other issues and hearing from the community about certain plans and policies they plan to vote on.

The commissioners approved the Animal Abuse Registry to help deter animal cruelty.

Wednesday night is also the first of two hearings on the city's moratorium on medical marijuana.
