TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) -- This Summer, we've seen some downright dirty, steamy, soaking, and sweltering jobs across North Florida and South Georgia.
Car washers, pool cleaners, peanut boilers and zookeepers. But in the end, only one can take home this year’s top spot as the 2016 WTXL's Toughest Summer Job. The votes have been tallied. The job you voted for as this year's toughest is "Wild Adventures Zookeeping".
"We spend almost eight hours a day outside in all of the elements: rain, shine, any of it", said Stephanie Scaffe, Wild Adventures Zookeeper. "We're out there taking care of these guys the whole time."
These workers enjoy their job so much, they don't have time to ask for recognition. "This is our passion", Scaffe says, "This is what we love to do. We're never looking for a 'Thank You', but its definitely nice to get that."
And even though the job leaves them exhausted, its all worth it. "We get to spend a lot of quality time with these really great animals", said Scaffe, after she and the rest of the Wild Adventures Zookeeping crew accepted their trophy, "This is a thing that people wish for their whole life and we get to do this every single day."
Congratulations goes out to Wild Adventures Zookeeping! Thank you for voting. And a big "Thank You" for all of our participants this year.
