(KPRC/CNN) - Texas authorities say there are both photo and a video showing the ordeal suffered by a two-year-old who died in a hot car.

Alicia Esquivel died in September.

Police found the images on a cellphone that was left in the car with the child.

Both parents are now facing charges.

It appears this two-year-old girl, Alicia Esquivel, just before she died, tried desperately to save herself using her parents cell phone.

There are two photographs and one video discovered on the cellphone in question.

The “complaints right inner thigh, a portion of her diaper, and part of her brown sandal,” were captured in one photo.

“(Investigators) listened to the video… (and) could hear what appeared to be a female child’s voice in discomfort,” an investigator said.

This would have been about 10 hours after Alicia Esquivel was left in her parents’ car.

The 25-year-old father Angel Esquivel Blanco is charged with abandonment. The mother, 25-year-old Olga Esquivel, is charged with abandonment and tampering with a corpse.

Investigators said the mother initially tried to cover it up, removing her daughter’s body from the car. She lied to investigators that she died in bed, then waited two hours to call 911.

The Esquivels face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
