TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--Tallahassee Memorial dedicates a wing of the hospital in the memory of a doctor who died on the very same floor where she saved so many of her own patients' lives.

Jyotsna Dalal, known as "Doctor Jo," worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at TMH for more than 20 years.

during today's ceremony a crowd gathered in the CICU to honor Dr. Dalal and share fond memories about her life.

Her daughter Getta Dalal Simons says this recognition is an honor to her mother and will remind others of the legacy she left behind.

Dr. Dalal died last September at the age of 71.

"There is no more fitting tribute for my mother, than to make this place a legacy for her and to remind people that, the staff, the doctors, the patients, to everybody, we're all people, we all need to be taken care of, we all need to be considerate to one another," said Simons.

Along with the CICU sign with her name, a memorial plaque was also placed in the wing in her honor.
