TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A local hospital successfully recruited Bay Medical Sacred Heart employees that were slated to be laid off due to Hurricane Michael.

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare held a job fair in Panama City on Dec 12.

It was open to all in the coastal communities of Bay County devastated by October's hurricane.

TMH officials say most who attended were from Bay Medical facing lay-offs on Feb.4 because of damage to the hospital.

They say they were able to hire 19 registered nurses at the event and applications continue to come in.

TMH is opening their new surgical facility the M.T. Mustian Center in Spring 2019 which will offer even more employment opportunities.

"We definitely have opportunities for folks to be employed directly within the M.T. Mustian Center but with that expansion comes the opportunity for existing service lines to grow and expand," said Steve Capenos Director of Human Resources.

TMH's open positions included nurses, medical assistants, surgical techs, lab techs, patient care assistants and much more.
