TIFTON, Ga. (WTXL) - After receiving many complaints from citizens, the City of Tifton is revamping their panhandling ordinance.

The City Council stated Monday night that the have looked into other cities panhandling ordinances all over the state and realize it's a problem statewide, not just south Georgia.

The main problem areas they are noticing are downtown and near large supermarkets.

The updated ordinance would regulate and limit access for panhandlers and others asking for money at entrances and exits of businesses and other public places.

The City Council will take two weeks to review the new ordinance.

It will be added to their next meeting agenda.
