TIFTON, GA (WTXL) - Officers have charged the active shooter they arrested at a Walmart in Tifton.

Tifton Police Department and the Tift County Sheriff’s Office arrested and charged 29-year-old Brandon Rogers for terroristic threats and acts, though they say this could change.

Officers said Rogers was at the Walmart Supercenter located on west Highway 82.

Deputies said that when they arrived, they came into contact with and arrested a man that matched the given description of the shooter. The man also had a handgun in his possession at the time of his arrest.

There were no injuries reported, but the store was closed for a while for follow-up investigations. Police said the suspect did not offer up an explanation for his actions.

No motive is known at this time. Police said that he would not speak with detectives and did not have a history with the Walmart or any of its employees. They do not believe he was targeting a specific individual.

Police reported that two shots were fired by the suspect during the incident. It is not known exactly how many customers and employees were in the store at the time of the incident.

Rogers is being held in the Tift County Law Enforcement Center and charges are pending.
