TIFTON, Ga. (WTXL)--A child is found safe after being reported missing. Police say her father and grandmother are sent to jail.
Police in Tifton say a 32-year-old woman reported her two-year-old child had been picked up by her biological father. She told officers he had no parental rights.
Police say he was supposed to take the toddler to the park but never came back.
She said every time she called Scott Mattos he gave a deadline of when he would bring the child home, but continued to miss those deadlines.
Police say she was later told that he was at a hotel somewhere in Georgia, but wouldn't tell her where.
A state look-out was issued for Mattos and his vehicle. Investigators say the child was later found with the help of the Valdosta Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Mattos and his mother Carla were arrested for kidnapping. They were booked at the Tift County Jail.
