TIFTON, GA (WTXL) - A teacher has been arrested after video cameras caught her knocking over a student with special needs.

According to a Tift County School District spokesperson, the incident occurred March 17 at the Tift County Pre-K Center. Closed circuit video from the school showed the teacher, Amelia Stripling, bumping into the student who was standing in the doorway. The video then shows the boy falling over in the door frame into the classroom.

Tifton Police arrested Stripling on Friday. She was charged with second degree cruelty to a child.

According to the school, the student, who had special needs, was not injured.

A fellow teacher reported the incident, the spokesperson said. The school then reportedly notified the parents, Division of Family and Child Services as well as local law enforcement about the incident.

Stripling resigned the next day, the school confirmed. She was a teacher in the district for 22 years.
