TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - The Tift County Board of Commissioners agreed to sign a contract regarding damage grant projects related to Hurricane Irma.

Tift County has been approved to receive a reimbursement grant from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.

FEMA approved over $77,000 for the projects.

The county will be reimbursed a little over $65,000 with this grant.

Tift County EMA Director Vickie Hickman broke down what those projects will include.

"Protective measures is any actions you take to help mediate or help respond to that emergency, so that's going to be any supplies that you buy prior to the event or to help with the event. It also covers overtime hours with the responders," explained Hickman.

Some of the other projects include donated resources and direct administrative costs.

All projects have been approved and will use federal and state funds.

Some of the funds included covering overtime for responders and updating equipment.
