TIFT COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - Now that students have closed the books, construction crews will work on the $21.4 million addition to Tift County High School.
Stacey Beckham, communications director for Tift County Schools, says students will be able to use some of the space by next school year.
By the fall of 2018, she says the building will see some new students as part of the schools' reconfiguration.
Right now, students visit seven schools within their education career.
After the reconfiguration, they'll only attend three.
A portion of the new addition will also house the upcoming college and career academy.
It's something that Beckham calls, a "huge win" for area businesses and the community.
