THOMAS COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Money from the 2012 SPLOST in Thomas County is now being used to ensure your safety.

Nearly $3 million will be used to improve road conditions on 14 different roads throughout Thomas County.

Some will be widened and resurfaced, but most will just be resurfaced.

Public Works Director, Tony Bodiford, says selecting those certain roads took a lot of thought, and says safety is a main focus of theirs for this project.

"It's a safety hazard, you know, you're out there riding you're getting potholes," said Bodiford. "You know people traveling up and down the road they want a smooth surfaced road, they're paying taxes, they want their roads to be nice to ride on."

Bodiford says construction will begin in September.
