LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - An investigation into a threat allegedly aimed at W.R. Tolar School prompted a campus lock down Friday morning.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says that around 8:20 a.m., school officials at W.R. Tolar School were alerted about a possible threat aimed at the school and immediately alerted the school resource deputy on campus.

In the abundance of caution, the school was briefly placed on lock down while officials investigated and assessed the situation.

After eight minutes, the lock down was lifted.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, however, deputies say the school is safe. They say there are no existing threats to W.R. Tolar School.

The school has returned to normal operations.
