TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Florida State University President John Thrasher delivered his first state of the university address Wednesday. The speech highlighted FSU's accomplishments, and the work the university needs to do to improve the quality of the school.

Before the Faculty Senate, Thrasher said the university has improved in national and international rankings, and raised a total of $725,000,000 towards its one billion dollar capital campaign goal.

He also said today's students are the most academically talented the university has ever seen.

However, even though there have been several accomplishments, Thrasher says there is more work to do, such as improving the diversity of the student body.

"While I believe that the current state of the university is excellent, I know that working together with a common vision can transform Florida State University and make it everything we all know it can be," said Thrasher.

Florida State is currently developing a strategic plan to help the university shape its initiatives for the next five years. The final plan is expected in May.
