THOMASVILLE, GA. (WTXL) - Thomasville motorists beware. The Public Works Department has installed new 4-way stop signs at the intersection of Briarcliff and East Washington Street. The new stop signs have been added to Briarcliff to create a 4-way stop condition.

Thomasville City Engineer Jerry Pionessa says, "After studying traffic patterns, we decided that in order to improve safety for both the surrounding community and commuters a 4-way stop condition was needed. This condition will help to reduce the speed of the vehicles traveling through the area and make the complex intersection easier to navigate."

Temporary "Stop Ahead" signs have been placed in the area to help alert approaching motorists to the new stop conditions.
