THOMASVILLE, GA (WTXL) - Thomasville officials have announced that the city's schools will be undergoing a practice lock down drill on Thursday.

On a Facebook post, Thomasville City school officials announced that Archbold Memorial Hospital will be doing an emergency preparedness exercise at 9 a.m. on Thursday that will involve law enforcement and first responders.

They said that several streets will be closed around the hospital and Jerger Elementary. Jerger and all other Thomasville City Schools will also be on lock down, which means parents will not be able to access their children until the drill is over.

Officials said that though the drill will be very realistic and treated as such, they are reminding parents that students will be safe at school during the drill.

They have stressed that parents will not be able to get access to the school or their children until the drill is completed.

They said the drill is expected to last from 30 to 45 minutes.
