THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Thomasville Police are applauding the quick work of a concerned homeowner that landed a car break-in suspect behind bars.
"Definitely prevented a rash of break ins over in that area." said Capt. Maurice Holmes.
This happened around 3 a.m. Monday.
Normally most people would be sleeping, but a doctor who lives on Hampton Court in Thomasville was actually at work.
Police say the man got an alert on his phone. When he pulled up his home surveillance camera app, he saw the video of a man in his driveway and quickly dialed 911.
"6 minutes after he called that suspect was in custody," said Holmes.
On the video you can see a man walk into the driveway, with a shirt over his head.
Officers said that man is Gordon Reynolds, and when they arrived to the scene, he was attempting to enter another vehicle.
Thomasville Police said Reynolds is no stranger to them.
"Our entering auto individuals we get here, we've already arrested them for the exact same thing," said Holmes.
Investigators said Reynolds has only been out of jail for a month, now he's back behind bars on yet another entering auto charge.
"Generally we catch them, they get incarcerated, they get out, and then they are back at it." said Holmes.
The important lesson police want to highlight is the quick work of that homeowner.
They said without his help, Reynolds could have targeted more vehicles.
Police said if you do get an alert from your alarm system, immediately call 911. Don't wait for the alarm company to call on your behalf.
