THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - A 12-year old in Thomasville is in a juvenile detention center after police say she held her mother hostage with scissors and a knife.
Police spoke with the 12-year old and her 8-year old sister at a house on Tucwal Street on Saturday, January 3, 2015, when they responded to a welfare call.
Police asked if everything was okay and the juveniles reportedly said they had gotten into a fight. Police say they asked to speak with the children's mother, who claimed the kids held her hostage with knives and scissors, and would not let her call for help.
When the officers asked the 12-year old why they were fighting and threatening their mother, they say she responded by saying that it was in their genes.
The 12-year old is charged with aggravated assault and hindering an emergency call.
The 8-year old is not charged.
